A Classic Wedding at The Grand Ballroom in Joliet, IL
We’ve had some amazing weddings this year so far, and as much as we have enjoyed being part of so many great couples' big days we couldn’t help but be excited for Sean and Katie’s big day since finding out about their hobbies.
We always try to find a common hobby between our clients and us, it helps us “click.” Knowing Sean and Katie were car enthusiasts made it all too easy for us to get excited. Of course to make things even better we found out that the wedding would be held at The Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station, which has been a dream of ours to be able to shoot a wedding there.
We were overwhelmed, to say the least, in a great way of course. The way Sean and Katie incorporated their “likes” into their wedding was fantastic!
While Sean is the biggest car enthusiast between the two and Katie spends a lot of time with their cats, it was no surprise to see some beautiful classic and luxurious cars in the venue. The cutest funniest was seeing that they had two signature drinks named after both their cats (The Dempsey and The Dino.)
We started the beautifully sunny day at Autobahn Country Club with Sean and his groomsmen along with his parents as well. Shooting their pictures was like being in a James Bond film. They were so handsome in their suits and it was just so much fun taking videos of them they definitely made us laugh. The Aston Martin was a plus and a great prop for the men.
Afterward, we headed towards The Joliet Union Station where we met with Katie and her parents. As we entered and got a glimpse of the bride, we were in awe of just how beautiful she looked. She wore her hair down and wavy, her dress was stunning I don’t think I could’ve taken enough pictures to really show the detail of it.
After getting wonderful pictures of Katie we took some details shots of the venue. I thought I had a good mental picture of this place but I was wrong, this venue was much more beautiful than I could have imagined.
Katie and Sean did a sand ceremony, I still think they are the most beautiful type of ceremony, the way the sands mix together symbolizing their new union of not just themselves but of their families as well.
Immediately after (which could not have been more perfect) were both Katie and Sean giving roses to their new mothers-in-law and grandmothers-in-law.
After the ceremony, we headed outside Union Station for portraits. There was a classic car waiting for Sean and Katie to use as their prop which tied their whole theme together. We also worked with the bridesmaids, they were in forest green colored dresses which we thought went so well with everyone having white rose bouquets. It was simple but elegant it went very well with the whole theme.
Once we got all the shots we headed inside for the real fun. They had a donut wall which was actually pretty awesome, cheese and fruit charcuterie boards, a bar, and all the work!
They had some pretty heartfelt speeches given by family members. Beautiful dances with the groom and his mom and the bride with her dad.
Once the dance floor had opened up there was not one person who did not at least dance one song. Everyone there was ready to celebrate the unity of Sean and Katie. The night was truly “lit” with so many glow sticks being swirled and held up high.
We really could not have foreseen this day going any other way, if there was a perfect wedding for the right couple, well Katie and Sean definitely did a good job putting together their big day! Congratulations and may you both be blessed with a lifetime of happiness!
