A brand-new baby. Soft light coming through the windows. Two older siblings already mid-chaos, a dog finding his spot right in the middle of everything, and parents who look over the moon. That is what I walked into — and honestly, it was everything.

This family had already welcomed me into their home once before, when their second daughter was born. So getting to come back for baby number three felt like something special. Like being handed a little piece of trust all over again. The house felt the same — warm, lived-in, full of life — just with one more tiny person making it even fuller.

Their home had that lived-in warmth that photographs beautifully — soft light, familiar blankets, the older kids doing their thing in the background. I didn't have to direct much. Families like this just need someone to witness them, and that's exactly what I got to do.

The dog, bless him, was a full participant. He found his spot right next to baby like he knew exactly what was expected of him. And honestly? Some of the sweetest frames of the whole session had him in them.

Getting to see a family I already know — a family I watched grow by one, and now by one more — is one of the most meaningful parts of this work. I don't just photograph strangers. I get to be part of these stories as they unfold.
