October family sessions always have a little extra magic, and this one at Lilacia Park in Lombard, IL was no exception. This was a returning client, which always makes a session feel even more special. Seeing familiar faces again and documenting another chapter of their family is something I truly value as a Joliet family photographer.

This session included mom, dad, and their three daughters, and the love and connection between them was so natural. From the start, their energy felt warm, calm, and full of joy—perfect for a fall family session.

They chose a beautiful color palette of burgundies, browns, pinks, and blues, which matched the park perfectly. Lilacia Park was full of life that day, with lush greens, pops of red from blooming dahlias, and the sun reflecting soft golden-yellow rays through the trees. Everything came together effortlessly, creating a romantic and timeless fall look.

We did a mix of posed portraits and candid moments, allowing the girls to interact naturally with their parents and each other. Those in-between moments—the laughs, gentle hugs, and quiet smiles—are always my favorites. They tell the real story of a family just being together.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons to photograph families because of the colors, the light, and the cozy feeling it brings. Sessions like this remind me why I love being a fall photographer capturing genuine moments surrounded by nature’s beauty never gets old.
