A Plainfield East Graduate, Four Beloved Dogs, and One Unforgettable Location | Lombard, IL

There are some sessions that stay with you long after you've finished editing. Valeria's graduation portraits at Lilacia Park in Lombard, Illinois were exactly that — and I couldn't wait to share them.
She already knew exactly where she wanted to go: Lilacia Park. And honestly? She had incredible taste. This park is a hidden gem in the western suburbs of Chicago, and it made for a stunning, naturally gorgeous backdrop that perfectly matched her personality and milestone.
Valeria graduated from Plainfield East High School, and this girl walked across that stage with so much to be proud of.
She came to her session in her graduation gown — a bold, beautiful orange that photographed absolutely stunning outdoors. The color popped against the greenery of Lilacia Park in the most gorgeous way, and it was such a reflection of her bright, joyful energy.
But what made this session truly one-of-a-kind? Her decorated graduation cap.
Valeria covered her cap with photos of her four dogs. Four. And if that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about this girl's heart, I don't know what does. Her dogs aren't just pets — they're her people. Seeing that cap was an instant reminder of why I love what I do. These sessions aren't just about pretty photos. They're about capturing who you actually are at this moment in time.
She also walked at graduation with honor cords — a testament to her hard work and dedication throughout her high school years. Girl didn't just show up; she showed out.
From the moment we arrived at Lilacia Park, the session felt easy and natural. Valeria was relaxed, confident, and genuinely herself in front of the camera — which is honestly the dream for any photographer.
We took advantage of everything the park had to offer. Soft open light, beautiful greenery, and plenty of space to move and play with different angles and poses. Her orange gown was a gift — that color is made for outdoor golden hour photography, and Lilacia Park delivered the perfect natural setting to complement it.
We captured everything: posed portraits, candid movement, close-up details of her cap and cords, and genuine in-between moments that felt real and effortless. Those unscripted moments? Always my favorites.
This is what outdoor graduation photography is all about — going somewhere that feels meaningful and letting the person in front of the lens lead the energy.
Valeria, watching you at this session was such a joy. You radiate warmth, confidence, and love — and your portraits show every bit of it.
You graduated with honors, decorated your cap with the things you love most, and you're heading into college with the whole world ahead of you. I can't wait to see everything you accomplish.
This one's extra special to me — because this wasn't just any client. This is family. And getting to document your milestone was an absolute honor.
We're all rooting for you. 🐾💛
