"SHE WAS BLESSED INTO WOMANHOOD"
The ceremony was all about Anissa, as she was blessed into womanhood. Her friends and family were all so happy for her, but it was still bittersweet to see their child turning into a woman. Still, that did not stop Anissa’s parents from enjoying their daughter’s night. We were able to capture some beautiful images thanks to the murals in the window behind the actual ceremony and the surroundings. After the ceremony, everyone was ready to get the reception going.

Doing a quinceanera is a nice change of pace from a wedding. For this, it is the celebration of the coming of age for a young woman, as she turns fifteen. Adolescence is in the rear view mirror, and adulthood is on the horizon. During the shooting of the court of honor, there isn’t that feeling of true love between a couple, but rather a feeling of love between friends, and we were lucky enough to be able to capture this. You can see Anissa and her friends just excited for the celebration and being themselves with each other. It is a truly special moment of friendship. The setting at the Azteca de Oro in Joliet, IL helped to provide this fun loving atmosphere.
We arrived at Azteca de Oro and the festivities got started. There was a bunch of great food, live music, and a bunch of family and friends. Everyone dug into the food right away and the celebration got started.
My favorite moment of the entire event was the father daughter dance, showing acceptance from the father to the daughter moving into the next step of her life. Anissa and her father shared a beautiful dance and the love Anissa’s father has for his daughter. As the night went on, you could feel the tradition within the room with the dances between the court of honor and Anissa’s hand stitched dress. After all the heart warming was over, the drinks started flowing for the adults and everyone was dancing and making the best out of the reception. The most unique aspect of this entire thing was the live music which created a rich Mexican traditional atmosphere. It was truly something special to be a part of.
