Red & Black Gothic Quinceañera at Lecy Center, Bolingbrook IL | Joliet Quinceañera Photographer

Let me tell you about a quinceañera that had everyone talking — and yes, I may be a little biased because this beauty is my niece, but seriously… Layla’s big day was one for the books!
Her quince took place on the 28th of last month, and before you ask — yes, they got their photos back weeks ago (we don’t play around in this family 😌📸). The celebration was held at the Lecy Center in Bolingbrook, IL, and her vision? A bold, gothic-inspired red and black theme with twinkle lights, masquerade masks, and just the right amount of glam.
Before the party, we started the day with a traditional Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Joliet. One of my favorite moments was during the blessing with holy water — Layla couldn’t stop smiling… and neither could the priest! It was such a sweet, joyful way to kick off the day.
She kept all the beautiful traditions: the changing of the shoes, the last doll, and even took time to personally thank every single member of her court — a gesture that had everyone emotional (and maybe reaching for a tissue or two).
The day was packed with so many emotions. Layla shared a father-daughter dance, a special dance with her mom, one with her grandpa, and another with her grandma. Let’s just say… there was not a dry eye in the room. 🥹
But my favorite part? Layla had been keeping her surprise dance a secret from her mom — and when it finally happened, it was a real surprise! That moment kicked off the dance floor and from there, the party didn’t stop.
The decor tied her vision together perfectly — a moody and elegant mix of red, black, and gold. The centerpieces were a combo of masquerade masks, flowers, and golden candelabras that gave everything a gothic yet feminine feel (yes, it makes sense — and it was gorgeous!).
The cake was a showstopper: four tiers, cascading black and red flowers, and full main-character energy. On the dance floor? Glow sticks everywhere, because obviously we love a little extra.
As someone who’s photographed many quinceañeras in the family (and I mean many — from both sides!), each one is special in its own way. Layla’s day was full of heart, joy, tradition, and a little mystery. Watching her shine, honoring both her roots and her unique style, was honestly such a gift.
Layla, if you're reading this — you absolutely killed it. Never stop being true to who you are. You made us all proud.

Quinceañera coming up? Let’s make sure every moment, big or small, is captured beautifully. We’d be honored to be part of your story.
