There’s something incredibly special about documenting a family’s first days at home with their new baby. As a photographer, I get to witness so many of these intimate, love-filled moments—and Lilly’s lifestyle newborn session was one of the sweetest.

Just a few weeks old, Baby Lilly was welcomed into a home filled with warmth, softness, and the kind of love that radiates from first-time parents. The session took place in their home, which made it all the more personal. There’s a comfort in being surrounded by your own walls, your own memories, and for Lilly—her beautifully decorated nursery.

Lilly’s nursery was a perfect blend of soft sage green and touches of lavender. The sage-colored walls created a peaceful tone, while light purple curtains added a pop of pastel charm. One of my favorite little details was the crocheted elephant curtain holders—so unique and full of personality! Her crib was home to a few cuddly Squishmallows, waiting for her to grow into them. Every element felt intentional and cozy, which matched the vibe of the entire session.

The light in their home that day was so soft and inviting—it made for the dreamiest atmosphere. The palette they chose complemented their maternity session beautifully. Mom had worn a sage green dress for her maternity photos, and it was so heartwarming to see that same color woven into their newborn session.

But let’s not forget one of the VIPs of the session—Lilly’s four-legged sibling Ein, an adorable corgi! It’s always a joy to include pets in newborn sessions; they are, after all, family too. Ein was so gentle and curious, adding a little bit of playful energy to an otherwise serene shoot.

One of my favorite parts of photographing newborns is focusing on the little things—the tiny toes, the delicate eyelashes, the way their fingers curl around mom or dad’s hand. Lilly’s tiny nose and toes were especially irresistible, and those close-up shots always end up being some of my personal favorites.

Being invited into a family’s home during such a tender season is something I never take for granted. These quiet, love-soaked mornings don’t last forever, but with photos, you get to revisit them again and again.
